Whole30: Introduction

Soooo, its official. My friend Sarah and I have started the Whole 30! Let me just say, this is not something I am thrilled to do, because I know it will be hard and the cravings will be intense. However, I don’t think I could have picked a better time in my life to challenge myself and do something out of my comfort zone. With that being said, I definitely didn’t agree without plenty of convincing…haha

If you’re not familiar with the whole 30 challenge—it is essentially designed to cleanse your body of the processed crap we tend to consume and encourage the consumption of whole foods in their purest form— (YAY) seems not too bad, right? Well, you’d be surprised how much your body craves the bad stuff ( yes, I’m talking to you sugar! )

^^ Here are the rules, it is also important to note that better results will come with eliminating most processed food, with a few exceptions, and keeping an exercise routine– which is what I will be attempting to do**

After multiple discussions about tupperware (lol) and brainstorming multiple recipes, we have come up with a menu for each week and have planned to do a weekly meal prep so we don’t have to think about meals each day or be tempted to break the rules!

Heres what we’ve got for the first week:

BREAKFAST

  • chicken and apple sausage (Aidells)
  • caramelized onions
  • red & orange bell peppers
  • white mushrooms
  • olive oil
  • yukon gold potatoes
  • 1/2 avocado
  • fried egg
  • salt and pepper to taste

SNACKS

the snack game has been tricky, not going to lie, the sugar and salt addiction has been REAL and I’ve had to actively stop myself from stuffing my face with french fries–but hey, baby steps right? It is only the first day after all!

Some snacks that I have been enjoying and have been filling me up are:

  • plantain chips & guacamole
  • apples & almond butter

I’m hoping to get the posts up at least once a week, maybe throw in a few extra if I have a particularly interesting day or fun fact–so stay tuned as I try to kick the whole 30 in the a$$ ;)

xoxo
