Summer is quickly approaching and i’m ready for sunshine, bonfires, oh, and food trucks ;) However, it also means finals are coming up (chaos) and the beginning of summer school (5th year senior probs) Cheers to a summer filled with organic chemistry & microbiology…hooray! But first, finals!
The bacon avocado fries were a spur of the moment thought when I was trying to find a use for my avocados that were on their last leg. I made them for the super bowl and they were a hit so I will be bringing them back for my iron chef and sharing them with you all for any future culinary endeavors ;)
Bacon Avocado Fries
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 2-3 avocados
- 1 pack of bacon
Ugh, so I had just made turkey bacon and was too lazy to clean the pan (so please ignore that) But basically, you will need to cut your avocado horizontally into strips and wrap the bacon around it (cut the bacon in half if it is too thick) and dip it in a well mixed brown sugar and chili powder combination. Set the oven at 425 and cook from anywhere between 10-20 minutes depending on your oven speed. Your bacon should be browned and crispy!
***The amount that this makes depends completely on the bacon-avocado ratio that you decide to go by. For this specific time, I used one packet of bacon and one avocado…Made about 12 decently sized “fries”***
Hope you end up trying and loving this recipe!!
